I always wondered that all beaches in the Andaman Islands are the sameโ€”white sand, crystal-clear water, and vibrant marine life. But I was dead wrong. Every beach has its own charm, and Radha Nagar Beach stands out as one of the best beaches on Havelock Island. The beach is no less than a tropical paradise for a soul-soothing experience. It offers a mesmerizing blend of sun, sand, and surf, surrounded by lush greenery and calm waters.

Recently during my Andaman trip, I visited this beach and everything about this beach is just perfect. In this article, I will explain everything about my experience with Radhanagar Beach, and why it is often ranked among Asia’s best beaches. Weโ€™ll cover its fascinating history, the best time to visit, how to reach and activities you can indulge in. Also, if you love photography, pack your kit for Radhanagar Beach, as the white sand, clear water, blue sky, lush green surroundings, and sunset views will make you drool with awe.

What is the Best time to visit Radhanagar beach?

The best time to visit Radha Nagar Beach is between November and April. During these months, the monsoon season is over, and the ocean becomes calm and clear. The clear water during these months makes this beach ideal for swimming and snorkeling. The warmer sunny days turn out the best sunset and sunrise experiences.

I visited Radhanagar in the first week of November. However, there was a rain prediction, and the weather was a bit cloudy in some places. So, itโ€™s always better to be on the safer side and plan your trip between December and March, which marks the peak tourist season. During this season, you can expect high accommodation rates and crowded beaches.

Although we were not in the mood to go swimming, the warm sparkling baby blue water enticed us to do so. The calm water made it ideal for swimming and snorkeling, where gentle waves welcomed us. However, be careful before going too deep into the water as currents, rocks, and jellyfish can be life hazards. We saw some small fishes, and if you’re lucky, you can also see turtles, starfish, and seabirds in the water.

Relaxation and Sunbathing

After swimming and playing with the sea waves, we were super tired and hungry. Thankfully, we spotted some shacks, though most were occupied. The soft, clean sand tempted us to make sandcastles and relax. Lounging on the beach, soaking up the sun, and enjoying the peaceful vibe was the best thing we did. We also found some local food stalls and got fruit plates and fresh coconut water to satisfy our hunger without missing the stunning ocean view.

Sunset Viewing

Sunrise or sunset on the beach is one of the most incredible views in the universe. For me, it gives peace of mind and fades away all worries. Radhanagar Beach is renowned for its breathtaking sunsets. We waited 2 hours just to witness it, and it was completely worth it. The scene is not to be missed when the sky transforms into hues of orange and pink as the sun sets over the horizon.

Trekking to Elephant Beach

For those interested in a short trek, a well-marked trail leads from Radhanagar Beach to Elephant Beach. The trek is approximately 2 kilometers and takes about 30 minutes, offering an opportunity to explore the island’s natural beauty.

Shopping outside the Beach

There isn’t a market near the beach but it’s more like a local street that has food, clothes, and seashell stalls. You can shop handmade seashell items like rings, neckless, earrings, etc. There were a few clothing shops as well from where you could buy beachwear like hats, loose-fit beach dresses, etc. In case you are hungry, there are ample shops where you can have coconut water, panipuri, chat, and many more. Overall, you will have a unique local shopping experience with fair-quality.
